Extrication IAO 213 Chase Ave 9/07/09

At the request of AMR Ambulance an extrication response was dispatched for a 2 car accident on Chase Ave. The driver of one of the cars was complaining of severe neck and back pain and in order to safely extricate the patient taking into account the possibility of a c-spine injury the decision was made to remove the roof of the vehicle. Fire crews sheared the roof using the sawsalls and Hurst Model 0 cutters. Once the roof and steering wheel were removed the AMR crew was able to immobilize the patient with the KED and safely remove her on a long board. The patient was transported to Waterbury Hospital for evaluation of her injuries.
