At 11:24am Waterbury Fire was dispatched for a structure fire at the Studio 98 Cafe on South Main St. When a fire marshal who was in close proximity to the call arrived on scene he reported that the fire was actually on Bond St with heavy fire and smoke showing from a vacant two story wood structure. As the egine companies stretched in lines the crew of Rescue 9 went to work gaining access to the boared up structure. The truck companies used ground ladders to rach the second floor and roof so they could open up and ventilate the structure. The fire was brought under control in about twenty minutes with the companies remaining on scene to perform an extensive overhaul and assist the fire marshal in the investigation of the fire.
