Waterbury Fire Department

Structure Fire North Ridge Dr 12/23/09

Waterbury received a call for a stove fire and possible kitchen fire at the North Ridge Apartments building 186. They arrived to find the fire was already into the walls and spreading to the attic space and adjacent apartment. When problems with the closest hydrant threatened the water supply an additional engine was requested to lay in from another hydrant securing a good water supply. As Truck 2 opened up the roof, interior crews opened the walls gaining access to the fire and bringing it under control after about 40 minutes. An extensive overhaul was performed and the Fire Marshal's office was requested to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. Both apartments sustained damage and alternative shelter was required for the residents.
