Garage Fire 101 Platt St 1/15/10

Waterbury Fire was dispatched to 101 Platt St in the City's north end. They arrived to find a three bay garage with three cars stored in it well involved. Aside from the garage there was an immediate concern about the "d" side exposure which was a large wood frame occupied multi dwelling. The residents were given the order to evacuate the structure and an additional line was stretched to protect the house. Heavy black smoke from the burning structure and the cars within was visible for miles. Fire fighters brought the fire under control quickly but the cars and contents of the garage were a total loss. Crews would remain on scene for an extended period of time for extended overhauling operations and to assist the fire marshal with his investigation
