Working Structure Fire 113 Congress Ave 8/26/11

Originally dispatched for smoke in the basement Waterbury firefighters arrived at 113 Congress Ave to find a working structure fire which appeared to be extending to the second floor. Command request an additional engine compaany in addition to the first alarm assignment as all hands went to work. Primary searchs showed the building clear of occupants and crews sretched in on the first floor market and the second floor's residential occupancy to attempt to get the fire undercontrol. After almost 45 minutes of hard work the fire was declared under control and the extensive overhaul operation went into effect.
