Detroit Fire Department

Mutaul Aid to 52 North St in Highland Park 4/25/09

On Saturday 4/25/09 while on a fire photography trip to Detroit I heard the City of Highland Park report that they had 3 houses fully involved on North St. With a limited staff on duty the other shifts were notified to report in to help contain the fire and keep it from spreading to additional adjacent exposures. The City of Detroit as asked to send a ladder and Pumper to assist since the fire was half a block from the Detroit Highland Park city line. The ladder held at the line since Highland Park was responding with their own second tower ladder. Detroit dumped their monitor on the right side house as it was still going good and the other two had collapsed, once they emptied the tank they were pulled from the scene by the Detroit Battalion Chief since Highland Parks additional manpower was arriving. All three buildings were a total loss and crews spent most of the night wetting down the hot spots.
