Box Alarm Fire In A Vacant Dwelling Dearborn at W.Jefferson 7/22/10

After just finishing a visit at Detroit Fire Headquarters we were thinking about starting the 9 hour drive back to Connecticut when the box came in for this fire. As we headed out of the downtown area we could hear the first arriving engine given the order to dump their monitor on arrival. Looking o the southwest we could see the header in front of us and we knew this was not a false alarm. We arrived on scene to find the main body of fire was knocked back by the monitor but there was still plent of work to be done before it could be declareed under control. The crews made an aggressive interior attack as well as ventin the roof to get it under control. They then spent an extended period of time overhauling and dousing hot spots.
